Retro sweet of the week!

To celebrate the run up to Valentine’s Day, we all agreed that there’s only one sweet we could choose as this weeks Retro sweet of the week.

It’s a bit predictable, but we never grow old of the iconic messages and fizzy fruitiness.

The most romantic sweet of all is of course…

Love Hearts

A lovely Jar of Love Hearts!

Ahhh, we’re sure many a childhood romance was spurred on by a little pack of Love Hearts. When you couldn’t find the words, Love Hearts were there to back you up with ‘Be Mine‘, ‘Heaven Sent‘ and ‘First Love‘. Nowadays you might also spot new additions such as ‘LUV U 24/7‘ and ‘Text Me‘ for modern courtship. Who said classic romance was dead eh?

If you’d like to relive romances of yesteryear, then simply leave a comment on this post and you could win some Love Hearts!

Who have you given a packet of Love Hearts to? What’s the weirdest message you’ve ever had on a Love Heart? Have any epic romances started from a Love Heart?

A winner will be chosen next Monday the 14th* and 9am, so all comments must be received by then.

We can’t wait to hear your memories!

* That means that the winners sweets will be sent out on Valentine’s Day and received after the big day, so this isn’t an excuse to get out of buying a Valentines Gift ;). If you need inspiration then look here.

Mike,my partner of nearly 23 years,
Would most definitely be in tears,
If for some reason i did not win,
His favourite sweetie from you in a tin,
These love hearts he would die for,
    And therefore i implore,
    Please take pity on me,
    And send him some more!

I love, hearts. There fun. We used to take them into School Lessons, and pass them round to people. We always used to get caught, passing a sweet to someone saying it was from a certain girl! There used to be alot of V.Confused Boys 😛 <3

Aww, lovehearts haha. I remember my first Valentine’s day and I got this guy I like something small that he would like but after I thought he hadn’t wanted to be my Valentine. That was until I went back to the classroom and the table where I sat was covered in lovehearts.
These are the only sweets that me and my boyfriend share together on Valentines and they always make me smile 🙂 hopefully I could make him smile with a tub of them, all for him xx

  8. Zoe says:

Ah love hearts.. being a bit of a tomboy at school and not interested in boys I never used to pass them round.. more for me!! :o) My first ‘proper’ boyfriend at 17 though made me a lovely valentines card and stuck love hearts to the card to make a cute message with a few words written inbetween each sweet where needed. Very ‘sweet’ I was bit peeved he glued them down though… :o)

  9. Michelle says:

Happy Valentines Day retro sweet fans ♥

For one of you, today is about to get that little bit sweeter.
The winner of the Love Hearts is…

    Zoe!

Zoe, we think it was so sweet of the boyfriend to stick Love Hearts to your card, but didn’t he realise you’d want to scoff ’em afterwards!
To make up for the glue covered Love Hearts, we’d love to send you a jar of them to enjoy.
Drop us an email to info@chewbz.com with your postal address and we’ll get your sweet prize on it’s way 😀

A big thanks again to everyone that took part, we’re so impressed, your comments just keep getting better and better!
